Hi! I’m Kaia Lola,

the owner and lead photographer at My Boudoir Atlanta.

  1. If you had asked me when I was a little girl what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would ALWAYS say an artist. I didn’t think I would need it, but if you asked me my backup plan, I would have said I would consider working in the UN.

  2. I’ve had a camera in my hand since elementary school. After stealing my grandmother’s Polaroid long enough, I was eventually gifted a super cheap digital camera which I used obsessively. By the time I was in high school, I worked a weekend job to buy myself a film camera and started developing film in our school’s lab. By senior year I knew that THIS was what I was meant to do.

  3. In college I focused on avante garde high fashion, but eventually began a series of surrealist conceptual art called Purging of the Past which took 3yrs for me to complete. It ripped the bandaid off struggles I had with my experiences with domestic violence, my father’s alcoholism, over a decade of depression which led to going from a dramatically skinny frame to over 200lbs. This was the start of my healing journey.

  4. A move to Atlanta birthed the passion project, My Boudoir Atlanta, where the studio brings women of all shapes, sizes and colors through the doors to experience a day celebrating their beauty EXACTLY as they are now.

life outside of art

  • Head boudoir photographer Kaia Lola shows background in boxing.

I got involved in martial arts late in college which facilitated a HUGE weight loss journey for me. More importantly, however, it changed how I viewed my capabilities as a human. This led to over a decade of training and competing having fought in loads of grappling tournaments, Muay Thai fights and MMA.

International travel is another huge component in my growth starting with a solo month long trip through Japan and Southeast Asia. Since then my favorite countries I’ve visited are Cuba for the boxing & salsa dancing and Pakistan for the wildly dynamic range of hiking opportunities. Overall I’ve been to about 12 countries

In 2022 I had a major back injury from martial arts that led to a back surgery. In that time I put on 30lbs. As I recovered, I got heavily involed in Latin dance with a focus on salsa and bachata where I joined the amateur performance team. I injured my back again and had a 2nd surgery April 2024. I’m now recovering and adjusting to this softer, less defined body gracefully thanks to the lessons I’ve learned photoraphing boudoir. Bodies change and this is just the chapter I’m in. <3

What the heck

is boudoir?

In the 1920s, boudoir photography was a bit scandalous since naughty nudes were considered taboo. But then along came the French photographer, Albert Arthur Allen, who had a knack for capturing curvaceous women in a romantic and tasteful manner. His work opened the door for all of us naughty-but-nice photographers.

Fast forward to the 1940s, and boudoir became a popular art form, with its roots firmly planted in the pin-up model scene. By the 1970s, photography was finally recognized as a legitimate fine art, and magazines even started featuring photos of nude models. Times were changing, and boudoir photography was here to stay.

Today, boudoir photography serves many purposes. Sure, it's still a fantastic way to create a tantalizing gift for your partner, but it has also become a powerful tool for self-empowerment. We believe that every woman deserves to feel confident and sexy, whether she's rocking lacy lingerie or going au naturel.

There are no rules when it comes to boudoir photoshoots. The possibilities are endless, and the only limits are in the creative collaboration between our photographers and their muse (that's you!). So, whether you're looking to embrace your inner goddess, celebrate a milestone, or just have a damn good time, our Atlanta Boudoir Photography Studio is ready to make your fantasies come to life.
